No Wednesday payment date in 2027 falls on a weekend or federal holiday — the schedule generator verifies this every build — so if you are on a Wednesday cycle, every 2027 deposit lands exactly on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday. The exceptions live on the fixed dates: January's SSI check moves to December 31, 2026 (January 1 is New Year's Day), May's SSI pays April 30, and August's pays July 30. The January 3rd-of-month payment also slides to December 31, 2026, because January 3, 2027 is a Sunday.
One planning note retirees often miss: the 2027 federal-employee in-lieu Fridays (June 18, December 24, December 31) are not Federal Reserve holidays — banks settle those days. SSA's "previous business day" rule therefore never triggers on them; payments due those Fridays (there are none on the Wednesday cycles) would arrive as scheduled. If a payment is late, SSA asks you to allow three additional mailing days before contacting them.
